It is time! To convene and create the 6th Radical Herbalists Gathering ( with a community work party ) in so called, Australia!  So, you are cordially invited to a gathering of Australian herbalists and plant enthusiasts of an anti-oppressive, and community-minded persuasion. This gathering will be very different to the ones in the past, it is primarily a workparty aimed to build infrastructure for the Rad Herb community.

We are organising this workparty around building a permanent kitchen structure for the Rad Herb headquarters for use during future gatherings making them more sustainable for us to host. So we invite you, our community

with willing heads and hearts,  to attend this work party. We will tend to the land, build bridges literally and metaphorically, prepare for future gatherings by building solid infrastructure and have an amazing time doing it. We would also like to see the Seed dispersal Collective grow some deeper roots. Our vision is solid and after a fallow year we’re really passionate about seeing this vision into fruition. Will use some of the time we gather to prepare seeds for dispersal and discuss how we can continue this project collectively into the future.

As a growing number of grassroots herbalists emerge, we feel inspired to explore how our work as herbalists and plant lovers can strengthen and build resilience in our communities. We want to nourish connection and celebrate what each of us brings to the landscape of herbalism in this country, One idea that emerged in conversation and sparked our hearts was to invite folks to participate in a gifting circle- to bring something they have recently made, be it a herbal remedy, salt blend, handmade soap, jam, ferment etc…something they have an abundance of to share. Folks can then give their gift and receive from others also. This way we can all go home with a little earthy herbal love from the awesome folks we will be camped and working with. We will get to know a little of what each of us are creating and be nourished by each other well beyond the gathering/workparty.

Our goals for this workparty/ gathering include:

  • starting to build a permanent kitchen structure for future gatherings
  • cutting bush poles for a structure
  • removing unsafe trees and milling timber
  • splitting and chopping firewood for future gatherings
  • building a bridge across the creek
  • clearing space around the gathering site
  • relocating tin for the roof
  • and packaging seeds for the Seed dispersal collective

We love experiencing diversity in the flow of the gathering and we believe everyone has something to offer so please consider coming no matter what your capacity is. We also need willing hands and hearts for fire keeping, meal preparation, water bearing, space holding, kid adventures etc.

If you feel called to join us please come. Your presence is always welcomed.

We will be camping and sharing a communal outdoor kitchen so be prepared for a weekend of intimate connection to nature and the elements; offline, around the fire, under the stars, camped beside the creek, working together and sharing nourishing food, learning new skills, having important conversation in community, processing seeds and discussing seed sovereignty.

For those of you coming from far away we suggest car-pooling with a friend and planning your travel to avoid being on the road between dusk and dawn as there are many animals on the move during these hours.
